The product uses an infrared pyroelectric sensor. The sensitivity of the sensor to the animal is related to the direction of movement, insensitive to radial motion, and most sensitive to cross-cut motion. So if the animal is stationary or is approaching the product in a straight line without cross-moving, the infrared light cannot be sensed and the product cannot work on the animal.
